Before You Feng Shui
First: Clear the clutter
You can increase the chi (the universal life-force energy) flow in your environment by clearing the clutter from each room in your home or office. By clearing out things that have been hanging around for a long time, you immediately create space for new opportunities, new business and new people to come into your life. You are 'decongesting' your environment, as you would your head when you have a cold. You are able to think better and more clearly. Your decision making power also increases. Look in closets, garages, cupboards, drawers, attics and on tabletops. Find those things that have outlived their usefulness in your life. Throw out, sell or give away items in order to create space and get energy flowing in a positive way. When you remove things that you don't need, it allows you to receive the things in life that you really do need.
Second: Make sure you love what is left!
Once you have purged the things that you no longer have a need for, take a look around at what is left. Do you absolutely love the things in your environment? Or are you keeping it because someone special gave it to you, it's too expensive to get rid of, it's an heirloom or you think you might use it one day? Ifyou are not fond of it, won't be using it any time soon, have no aspirations of fixing it or have outgrown it physically or mentally, then these items create a negative influence on your energy. (Like water dripping on a stone, at first you don't notice anything, but after awhile, it creates a hole.) You can pass on items to people who will absolutely love them and they will transform the energy into positive chi for themselves. Your feelings energize objects in your environment. Ifyou are putting out negativity then that is what you will get back.
Third: Maintain a safe environment
Often I see clients living with furniture that impedes movement, fixtures that are hung too low, or electrical cords that are running dangerously along the floor. These people are blind to the fact that they have to adjust the way they walk around these things so they don't get injured. We baby-proof our homes when we have children. As adults we should maintain this philosophy so we can enjoy living in a safe environment. Clients living in unsafe environments constantly experience bumps and bruises. They are blind to the effect. When this happens they carry these injuries out into their daily lives as bruises to their personality. Their daily environment/activities won't be as favourable as they could be, and opportunities will be missed because they are blind to them also.
